APIBOX System
Solid-State Digital
Voice and Flight Data Recorder
Resistant to Fire and Crash
Overview
The APIBOX system allows the recording of a wide range of parameters for most types of aircraft (pistons engines, turbines, and single or multi engines) and instrumentation (ARINC 429/717, analogical devices…) with memories resistant to crash and fire. Recorded data can be downloaded on a computer or automatically transmitted by GSM/Sat to a database.
The analysis software provides assistance to study trend shifts, to detect limitations overshoot and other events, in order for customer to improve aircraft availability and dispatch reliability and consequently reduce maintenance and operating costs and optimize revenues. In addition, the flight can be replayed with all parameters values and audio channels signals in support of training and debriefing.
The APIBOX bus allows receiving several modules in order to implement additional functionalities: multi function display, removable storage, customer applications.
Application
Preventive Analysis:
The APIBOX allows recording the highest and lowest values of each parameter for each flight. These data are stored for the life of the system or aircraft. The recording time is far higher than any anticipated aircraft or engine’s life.
Preventive maintenance can be performed by analyzing the recorded data by the APIBOX system. Aircraft structure and flight envelop limitations and engine parameters are recorded by the APIBOX system. This is a very valuable tool to detect any aircraft systems malfunctions, any over stress on the airframe or overshoot of limitations, particularly torque and temperature on a turbine engine.
The flight data recorder is also a strong re-marketing tool for the second-hand market. Data extracted for analysis are never cleared from APIBOX and any new potential owner can be reassured regarding the history of the aircraft and its utilization.
Training Support:
On top of recording Min/Max data, APIBOX can display the last flights details at 10Hz and 1Hz frequencies.
It’s a unique opportunity for training support because each pilot can replay his own flight in 3D with all the desired data displayed on a synthetic and user-friendly graphic.
Thus, the school debriefing will become easier especially for the first solo cross-country fights where it’s difficult for the flight instructor to assess the flight performance of its student.
Incident/Accident Analysis:
A harden version of the flight data recorder resistant to crash and fire is also available as an option. Today, a very high percentage of crash investigation in general aviation remains unsuccessful because of the absence of exploitable and reliable flight datas. The APIBOX could greatly enhance general aviation safety by providing a professional, reliable and affordable tool which could contribute to identify and understand numerous safety issues.
